Fans of L.A. Noire had the chance to ask the cast some interesting questions about what we didn’t see in the game and the production that went in to it. Below are a few excerpts and links to read the full Q&A with our very own Sean McGowan talking candidly about his time as Stefan Bekowsky.

Sean McGowan:
I have to say some of the funniest moments in working on the game were watching how uncomfortable everybody was in the motion capture suits. You literally are in a skin-tight, spandex body suit wearing a funny cap on top that makes you feel like you have a condom on your head. You couldn’t “see” anything, but they still felt extremely revealing. After a little bit we all got used to it. I mean, what are you going to do? There were hundreds of other actors who came in for sometimes just one day of work and you could see they just didn’t feel right. They felt a little more exposed than what they’re used to. But again, what are you going to do?

Sean McGowan:
As an actor, I’d say the one thing that connects all forms of acting, i.e. movies, theatre and now games, is that you want your audience to believe you. To really buy into what you are saying. So on a basic level, as actors, essentially our job is to make you believe what we’re saying. Dramas or comedies, if you don’t buy the actor you’ll never buy into the story. With L.A. Noire it was a bit tricky to figure out the perfect balance of how much is too much. Am I standing too still? Am I moving too much? Am I overacting because I feel like I have to push? In the end, I’m not sure if I ever really got it! Haha… I hope I did.
(part three coming soon!)
From Rockstar: “Stay tuned for part 3 in our special series, which will pick up with questions specifically asked to individual detective’s actors – including Michael McGrady’s opinions of the sarcastic Detective Galloway, Sean McGowan’s musings on the psychology of Bekowsky and Phelp’s brotherly relationship, Aaron Staton’s experiences reuniting with his Mad Men castmates and much more!”
Sean McGowan (Stefan Bekowsky) and Kate Norby (Lorna Patterson) have worked together prior to their appearance in L.A. Noire during the ‘A Marriage Made in Heaven’ case. In Season 2 of ‘Bones,’ Kate and Sean both appeared in episode 2, “Mother and Child in the Bay.”

STEFAN BEKOWSKY (L.A. NOIRE)
Soooo I’m kind of in love with Bekowsky. I was honest-to-god disappointed when I reached the next detective rank and he got replaced with my new partner. I NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE YOU.
Never let go, Jack. ;)
